These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Immigrant Companion ("the platform", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By using the platform you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are legally able to enter into this agreement.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. What the platform is (and is not)
Immigrant Companion is an information and self-assessment platform. Our reports, scores, recommendations and generated documents are for informational purposes only. They do not constitute legal advice and do not guarantee the approval of any visa, permit or application. For personalized legal advice, book a session with one of our licensed consultants.
4. Payments and refunds
- Prices are displayed in the currency shown at checkout and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
- Payment is processed by our third-party processors (Stripe, PayPal, Flutterwave, Orange Money). Your agreement with them applies to the transaction itself.
- Full Reports and CV deliverables are refundable within 7 days if they do not match the answers you submitted. Consultation bookings are refundable up to 24 hours before the scheduled time. Contact info@immigrantcompanion.org to request a refund.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the platform. That includes not attempting to access accounts that are not yours, not scraping or reverse-engineering the service, not uploading malicious files, and not using the platform to commit or facilitate fraud. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these rules.
6. Intellectual property
All platform code, branding, report templates and scoring logic are owned by Immigrant Companion or its licensors. You keep ownership of the information you submit and of the generated reports that relate to your profile, and you grant us the license needed to host, process and deliver them to you.
7. Consultants
Consultations are delivered by independent licensed professionals (RCICs or Canadian immigration lawyers). The consultant, not Immigrant Companion, is responsible for the legal advice given during a session. Recordings and notes from sessions are shared with you for your records.
8. Termination
You can close your account at any time from your dashboard. We can suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms. On termination, paid-for deliverables already issued remain available for download for a reasonable period.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Immigrant Companion is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the specific product in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Changes to the service or Terms
We may update the platform and these Terms. Significant changes are announced by email and reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Immigrant Companion is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
